That isn't the stand of any good conservative.. we just don't believe they should be treated as a minority group with special privileges. Most don't believe they should be able to legally get married either but that is really up to the state you live in. Other than that, you can do whatever you want in your own bedroom because the government needs to stay out. To say 'no freedom' is just over the top silly. They can do whatever they want. Go where they want, say what they want, 'do' who they want.. no different than me.

Re: This is so true....
i think he wrote within the quote margins... oh well
nevertheless... isnt it a little embarrassing what happened in california a year ago... to take a minority's rights away... through a popular vote no less... as the supposed "crusaders for democracy" its really sad... i dont think jefferson supported or espoused such actions... simply... why cant gays marry and have the same benefits heterosexual couples have... i dont understand the conservative logic... and the idea that the state knows best goes against your antipathy towards big government...
again america needs a PC party (progressive conservative)... a party that isnt caught up in mythological bs or uniformity... but you learn quickly not to trust politicans

Re: This is so true....
Right there you prove you know so little about conservatism..
We believe in the states right to govern with limited federal involvement. Its the reason my state, Texas, is able to continue to thrive for the most part while others are hurting. Mostly states that continually vote in democratic leadership mind you... i.e. California (yeah.. that actor in charge is no republican), New York, etc.
I personally believe that gay marriage denigrates the marriage between a man and a woman. This is based on my religious beliefs. Therefore because of that, and the fact that I see them as a special interests group and not a minority group such as blacks or hispanics, I saw what happened in California as a victory in the protection of marriage. I don't think Jefferson ever envisioned people of the same sex getting married so I'm pretty sure that reference should be tossed.
What really needs to happen is the dismantling of the democratic party and its large load of bs it's carrying around. The idea that people who work hard should be punished for freeloaders. The idea that unequal taxation of job creators some how help the working class man and woman. The idea that an entity that can't successfully run ANYTHING should have more and more control over your life. The idea that people who have money are evil and should be punished as being evil. The idea that this country should be apologizing to the rest of the world when much of the world is free because of the sacrifice of Americans is an embarrassing stance. We make mistakes, but the idea that appearing weak to people who want to destroy some how helps the cause of the people of this country is a big mistake. A mistake that will likely mean Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize winner for his efforts towards peace while in office for 12 days, will be a one term president. I certainly hope so anyway...
And now I am really done with this thread because I have much to do tonight and tomorrow. Later.

I know. I just wanted to see people's reactions.{EE} The New Guy wrote:Crimson is just a ignorant virgin who probably has never left his state, let alone the country, and has a very limited perspective on life. Not worth my time.
If I'm not worth your time as you say I am, why do you even bother posting these things about me? Oh and it's quite humorous how you've resorted to calling me names; I gave that up in 2nd grade![]()
NEW GUY.... Why are you attacking people in OUR TKC CLAN with assumptions??? Talkin' BAD about Crimson like that ?? We LIKE and RESPECT each other and we don't have to resort to "CALLING people NAMES." Maybe you shouldn't post on our Forum ....

And it's your right to parrot what you hear in the entertainment world, state media, and from Michael Moore. It's not my job to teach Canadians about the founding fathers and the 90 degree turn that this nation has taken from their beliefs and their love of freedom over tyranny. This nation was founded by a group who disliked taxation without representation and tyrannical rule. With the idea that the Democrats could invoke the "nuclear" option to impose it's will against the will of the people, a president who establishes "czars" over industry, forcing people who don't want health care to purchase said health care, this nation is becoming what the founding fathers hated.
And now to test the new dude sticking his tongue out...

Re: This is so true....
I was referring to academics... the historical scholars... you know... people who are educated on the subject... and i dont know how i could make it any clearer... i am not canadian...
fine... Jefferson was a deist... at best... at least he didnt dilute himself (politically) into thinking there was an omnipotent ruler above all... its just too bad they didnt conceive of a more appropriate democratic system... like a parliamentary system... like what canada has... you know... a system more reflective of all its people...
