    Map Making

Hey guys, I am sure that I am not the only person here who is trying to learn how to make maps...I thought I would make a thread about it. Somewhere for us all to discuss our problems and triumphs.
Also I have one big question:
I can run my maps and I can play them just fine but I know that there is some code I need to type into console so that other people can join and I just can't remember what it is. Does anyone remember what this code is?

im pretty sure you dont need a code. u just need to upload the map to a server and make sure if they have a fast d/l server that they use that u put it there as well. once you run your map it turns it into a bsp so make sure you upload that one.

    You need your own server.

Actually a code is needed to open up your ports. However, you can also do it manually. Either that or you could support a LAN line and just do it for local people.

Ohh. That sucks. I remember doing coding for a mod years ago for my friend on Half Life the original. Was tough and I gave up.

I thought I loved coding too but I soon realized upon entering a college level computer science program that it was more of a past time and not a career choice. You can make one minute mistake and it could take hours to figure it out. Makes me anxious just thinking about it.

It happens, but eventually you start to realize where you USUALLY forget something like a ";" and you immediately start looking for those things. I don't have nearly as many of those.. I just spent the entire afternoon looking for a forgotten "." but they do happen sometimes.
