    Comet touchdown

Not sure if anyone is interested but today the Rosetta Philae probe successfully deployed it's lander and Touched down on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimentko 317 Millions miles away. Historically, this isn't the first Comet encounter with a space probe, but it is the first time a probe was sent to orbit a comet, and land on it to explore it. Here is a link to the European Space Agency website for anyone interested: http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space ... s_on_comet

or you can watch the history channel at 9pm eastern as I'm sure they will have some interesting live mission information (supposedly).

The battery ran out I believe. It sucks how it ran out and it landed on bad spot. I hope they can get stuff out of it still, since it was worked on for 10 years

The batteries should recharge, they got a little unlucky, it touched down in the spot they wanted, except when it went to anchor itself it bounced and settled in a not so good spot.. they still got some good information from the initial battery charge.. so we'll see.. hopefully they are able to continue on with more experiments.
