Thank you for all the kind welcomes!

sleep deprivation and boredom got to me, digging through my pictures i found one of my rig when i finished building it. though this is before my SSD and before i had to sell one of my graphics cards to pay for school.
Edit: also noted there is only one ASUS badge on the front. after i took this picture i plugged in to find that the motherboard was bad :icon_cry2: had to pull it back apart to get it replaced...

This is the inside of mine as of a couple weeks ago, haven't gotten a new pic since I got a new cooler and two more case fans. I'll get one up soon. BTW, that's a Radeon HD 6870. LOVE IT.

Can't imagine how to get dry ice to work, sounds interesting, care to elaborate.

Many years ago , while looking for a cooling solution for my new rig, I came across someone who used mineral oil as a thermal transfer agent. He submersed everything in his computer that had no moving parts into a tub of oil then circulated that oil through heat exchanger coils located in the freezer compartment of a refer. For the hottest areas (CPU, N. bridge etc.) he had designated tubing pumping the cold oil directly located over that heat sources. I almost tried it but seemed to messy, I'm sure there are other suitable non-conductive liquids that can be used.

Oh yeah, welcome to the clan

Decided to look it up and it's gone commercial, http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php

i remember seeing that setup in one of my maximum pc magazines. very cool solution!

as far as dry ice it is by no means a 24/7 cooling solution. its use more for benchmarking and trying to overclock to the very limit of the cpu's ability's before frying it. obviously the higher you overclock your cpu the more voltage you need and that puts out alot of heat. also cpus will for the most part function better the cooler they are. when using something like dry ice you need something known as a pot, a pot is a copper tube that is closed off on one side. that's the side that contacts the cpu. then you fill the pot up with isopropyl alcohol and feed it dry ice pieces till the temp is where you want it, then continue to feed it to keep the temp down low. dry ice will take your cpu's temp down to -70C. people will also use liquid nitrogen (-196C) and even liquid helium (-220C)

Liquid nitrogen

Liquid helium running, these guys broke 7GHz with a phenom 2 cpu

Wow very impressive set up, 7GHz with a phenom 2 cpu, heat is the deciding factor I guess.

Looks like a research center in that igloo. The alcohol is non conductive I take it.

I can remember buying some cheap ram at a computer swap meet that didn't work when I got it home but after a couple of hours in the freezer ended up working for 5 or so minutes.

Do you think someone could use a small refrigerator compressor and the freon tube for cooling a rig?
