also after doing all of this i have no boost to my fps either. kind of a sobering experience since it seems i just wasted $500 that i could have used to pay bills.

Re: yay my new components came in

i found a interesting article that make give you some more performance in game. http://www.xtremehardware.it/eng-review ... 111226092/
basically with hyper-threaded cpu like the 2600k, windows 7 will shut off cores if it feels the current operation does not need it. its simply a power saving technique. problem is that if the operation does need it, it cant turn them on until the operation is finished.
now what it sounds like is your old pc was not cpu bound, meaning your cpu was not holding your graphics back so by switching it wont make much difference in frame rate. battlefield 3 is more GPU dependent then other games which is why the FX-8150 and the 2600k produce the same frame rate in battlefield 3 even when overclocked.
    what was your old cpu?

    Doh *face palm*.......

Go in your bios and turn any and all power saving features off. This held me back a lot in the beginning. Also, may be a good time to check and see what it defaulted your ram too. The Sandy boards tend to default them to 1333. Mine is 1600 but had to manually set it to that. I was looking through multiple threads trying to figure out what was going on. Soon as he said power saving it hit me like a ton of bricks.....

One other thing, you may see a slight increase in performance by shutting off hyper threading also. Typically in gaming only. If you need more help with what to shut off Ill help you where I can!

It is not a CPU bottleneck. I could have told you that one. My 2600k stock will take up to almost a 1Ghz overclock on my SLI'd 570s. Since your stock GPU clocks are lower than my GPU stock clocks your 2600k should take what they have and more!!

Re: yay my new components came in

the cpu bottleneck i was referring to was when i had the 955 be installed. and i only have 1333mhz ram and i already made sure to change to the xmp profile. ive read alot of posts with people saying that sli'd 570s only get around 100 fps on bf3 unless u overclock like mad. so i guess ill just have to make do.

What FPS are you currently getting?

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

I havent tried over clocking my cards on BF3 yet and I get 100+ FPS. There is the occasional drop when major explosions are going on around me but Ive never seen below 70 FPS. My GPU clocks are 786 MHz Memory 1050 MHz and Shader 1572 MHz. Only other thing I can think of helping me out would be the dedicated PhysX card I have, GTS250.

As for fraps, get ready for a big hit in FPS... At least I did. BC2 I could record at max settings and not skip a beat. BF3 I have to record at 30 FPS just to keep the game playable. It probably doesnt help I am using Ultra settings either.

You have SLI turned on right? When I updated drivers I forgot to turn it on and was getting 50-80 FPS using one card.
