Laptop issues...Any Ideas would be appreciated!

Ok doky my sister has a laptop and she was complaining she cant do anything as its super slow. So I went over there with my cleaning software to clean it up a bit. Well after running my software to clean it(McAfee quick clean) I rebooted. The computer kept shutting off during re-boot over and over again. It finally went to windows and I clicked on I.E to go onto the internet. By the time this thing got to the web, I could have built another computer. Anyways I finally decided its time to reformat using the cd's the Geek Squad made. Well during the re-install the computer kept shutting off. I then use the onboard re-install and after a few times, finally got to the screen to re-install with the recovery partition on the harddrive. Got it all installed and got to the part where it says"Setting up your computer for the first time(or close to this, installling files) and there was a small "pop" sound and the computer shut off again. So thats it, I figure maybe the harddrive is shot? Anyone have any other ideas why this would happen?

Sometimes measuring the bottleneck can be interpreted in so many ways. The only Thing ATI can render better then Nvidia is BSoD.

I was being sarcastic with my post, I try to stay away from Best Buy. The one local to me are full of idiots. They literally harass you to try and buy what they say you need. I've complained many times to higher ups and have actually been asked to leave the store multiple times also.
