Monitors question

So do you guys think upgrading to a 120 Hz does anything over a 60 Hz? Or is it more about the refresh rate? Thinking about upgrading my monitor maybe which right now is a Viewsonic 22 inch LED 1920x1080, 5 ms response time. Just seems like its not as crisp as it should be. I do have an R9 280X GPU in the computer with an FX-6200 cpu, not sure if upgrading to a newer GPU is the right way to go as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. And yes I know having an AMD setup is outdated but entertaining an Intel I5 7600K build. But for now thinking baby steps to building a new system starting with a new monitor. Thanks!

120hz is the refresh rate. Response time is the time it takes to see a pixel change color. A high refresh rate and lowest response time will be best for a gaming monitor. A 120hz with a 5ms response time will be a nice monitor. If you can afford it though, I would get a 1440 monitor.

I have dual AOC 21.5" monitors, they aren't "high end" by any means, just basic 60Hz/5ms screens. I've thought about upgrading to some gaming screens, but the simple fact that upgrading TWO screens to 120 or 144Hz gaming monitors for a good cunt of change to me is pointless.

PS. I have an AMD build myself, but I love it. My only drawback is not having SSDs for all my drives. Then I also found out it's actually one of the WORST times to upgrade/build a PC. My EXACT RAM that I bought 2yrs ago has more than DOUBLED in price, and it's DDR3...

I was looking for something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/23-inch-Wide-Scr ... light&th=1

It may only be 1080p, but has the 1ms response time, plus it's low blue light, check into that...
